Tiger athletes set numerous personal bests at Wichita State

Competing at the KT Woodman Classic held Thursday through Saturday at Wichita State University, the Cowley College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams took advantage of wonderful spring weather to put up some impressive marks.

Tiger athletes Aidan Wells (10,000-meter run), Joel Rodriguez (10,000-meter run), Santiago Nunez-Gonzalez (5,000-meter run), Mason Bickle (5,000-meter run), and Julien Washington (javelin) put up personal best performances on the men's side.

Abigail Pinnock (800-meter run), Delicia Boothe (1,500-meter run), Dhennifer Vaz (1,500-meter run), and Jamilet Bautista Infante (javelin) had personal best performances for the Lady Tigers.

"Just like most meets, we had our ups and downs, but overall it was a fantastic meet," Cowley head coach Cameron Rieth said. "We had great weather and great competition that brought out some solid efforts. I am really excited to see our mid-distance girls finally coming around. Our 10k guys threw down, as well as Santiago in the 5k. It was only a matter of time, they have been putting in some solid consistent work."

Cowley athletes were competing against several NCAA Division I schools, including Wichita State University, the University of Missouri, the University of Tulsa, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

"Across all aspects of our team, it was good to see how they handled competition from D-1 schools with big names across their chests," Rieth said. "I think that the experience will set them up for good things down the road."

Cowley will look to continue making strides when they take a select group of athletes to compete at the University of Kansas Relays Thursday through Saturday in Lawrence, KS.
