Lady Tiger volleyball program signs Italian standout

The Cowley College volleyball program has added Italian standout setter, Rossana Papa, from Brescia, Italy to the roster beginning in the fall of 2021.

Papa, a 5-foot-11 setter, prepped at Liceo Scientifico A. Calini in Brescia, Italy. Having a stellar career in her home country, she now brings her experience to Cowley. In 2015, she was selected a provincial selection of Brescia. From 2017-2019 she played for Promoball VBF – Flero (Brescia) C series, where she was a Provincial Champion and served as a team captain. In 2020-21, she played for CBL Costa Volpino, B1 series (high level league).

"Rossana is a great fit for Cowley College and for our program," Cowley head coach Steven Gream said. "We were immediately impressed with her athleticism, setting technique, court awareness, and discipline. She has the ability to run a faster tempo offense and has the ability to place the ball to her hitters in and out of system at any time. Rossana has competed at a high level in Italy while playing in their B and C series levels and we look for her to bring that vast amount of experience to Cowley."

Papa is the daughter of Roberto Papa and Roberta Rota.
