Cowley volleyball adds a talented setter from Oklahoma

The back-to-back national champion Cowley College volleyball program has added Oklahoma standout Sydney Dunkleberger from Edmond, OK, to the roster beginning in the fall of 2025.

Dunkleberger, a 5-foot-9 setter, prepped at Edmond North High School in Edmond, Oklahoma where she played four seasons. In her senior year, she led her team to a 22-16 record and finished Oklahoma 6A State Runner-up.

During the season, she totaled 971 assists at 7.70 assists per set, 348 digs at 2.80 digs per set, and 46 aces. For her efforts, she was named Oklahoma 6A All-State, First Team All-Conference, 6A Oklahoma 6A State Championship All-Tournament Team, and was named to three All-Tournament teams, was ranked as high as 20th top player in the 2025 class in Oklahoma and the fifth best Setter in the 2025 class in Oklahoma by Prep Dig, and served as team captain.

In her junior year, she led her team to a 20-12-2 record and finished in the first round of the Oklahoma State tournament with a final ranking of tenth in Oklahoma. She was named Second Team All-Conference for her efforts. In her sophomore year, she led her team to a 23-16 record and finished in the first round of the Oklahoma State tournament with a final ranking of 13th in Oklahoma. In her freshman year, she led the team to a 5-7 record in a Covid shortened season with a final ranking of 22nd in Oklahoma. During her high school career, she recorded 2,000 plus assists.

"Sydney is a great fit for Cowley College and for our program. She comes to us from two strong volleyball programs (club and high school) where she has learned solid setting technique, court awareness, and discipline," head coach Steven Gream states. She has great ball control, athleticism, quickness, consistency, and aggressiveness that we look for in a setter to run our offensive system. She already sets a fast tempo, and we look for her to adjust well as she transitions to the college game."

Off the court, Dunkleberger is a Valedictorian with distinction, a member of the National Honor Society, served on the student council where she served as treasurer and is a Student of the Year nominee. Dunkleberger also participated in club volleyball for the Oklahoma Peak volleyball club where she continued her training beyond her high school seasons and for college volleyball preparation.

Dunkleberger is the daughter of Scott and Susan Dunkleberger of Edmond, Oklahoma.
