Lady Tiger cross country team ranked No. 1 in DII

Making the move to NJCAA Division II has been a good decision so far for the Cowley College women's cross country team. The Lady Tigers are ranked No. 1 in week one of the NJCAA Division II National Coaches Poll.

Led by sophomore Lubna Suied winning the women's three-mile race at the season-opening Terry Masterson Twilight Classic September 4 in Hutchinson, KS, the Cowley College women's cross country team placed second out of five teams.

Lady Tiger freshman Karissa Glover shined in her debut, placing 10th out of 50 runners with a time of 20:05.4, while sophomore Zinara Lesley (20:11.0) and freshman Sierra Saenz (20:16.5) were just behind in 11th and 12th place.

Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa is ranked second in the week one poll, while Grand Rapids (MI), St. Clair County (MI), and Pasco-Hernando Community College (FL) round out the top five.
