Cowley softball team continues mastery of Pratt with a doubleheader sweep
The Cowley College softball team improved its record to 5-0 this season against Pratt Community College by defeating the Beavers 7-1 and 11-6 on Monday in Pratt, KS.

Cowley is now 18-8, while Pratt falls to 7-19.
Both games were close until the later innings when Cowley was able to pull away.
In game one, the Lady Tigers led just 2-1 before scoring two runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to win 7-1.
Lady Tiger sophomore Ezra Arredondo (6-2) did not allow a hit in five innings pitched but did walk four as she left the game with Cowley leading 2-1.
Mikah Vann struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief, and sophomore Paige Scanlin went 3-for-4 with her sixth home run, a double, and three runs batted in. Krisyana Pellet also had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, and two runs batted in.
Six of Cowley's eight hits in game one went for extra bases.
Cowley trailed game two by a score of 4-3 heading into the top of the sixth inning. The Lady Tigers would go in front 5-4 with two runs in the sixth and then added six runs in the seventh to win 11-6.
Cowley had five more extra-base hits in the nightcap and took advantage of nine errors by the Beavers.
"We took advantage of Pratt's errors and had a big push in game two, but we need some players to step it up, handle the pressure, and execute their job a little better," Cowley head coach Jenny Hoyt said.
Alissa Nuno belted her first home run of the season and drove in three runs, while Taverli Tennant and Bre Curry doubled and had three hits apiece. Tennant is batting .506 with 48 runs batted in, and Curry raised her average to .414.
Freshman Madison Baker allowed six hits and two runs in four innings pitched before Vann came on to earn the win in relief. Vann (10-3) allowed four runs in three innings while striking out five.
Cowley will open conference play on Thursday at 2 p.m. when they host a doubleheader against Fort Scott. The Greyhounds are 6-10 on the season.
