Whitlock Jr. named a First Team All-American

Having helped lead the Cowley College men's basketball team to a conference and region title as well as a trip to the Elite Eight at the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship, Marcus Whitlock Jr. was recently named one of only two freshmen to make the list of First Team All-Americans.
Whitlock Jr. averaged 16 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 42.3 percent from three-point range. His 561 points were the 21st most scored in a single season at Cowley as the Tigers finished the 2024-25 season with a record of 30-5.
Whitlock Jr. came to Cowley from NCAA Division I Kennesaw State University, where he redshirted due to an ACL injury.
"He bounced back from a major injury and proved he belongs among the nation's best," Cowley head coach Donnie Jackson said. "What an honor for MJ and our program to be recognized as one of the top players in the country. This is a tribute to the time, effort, dedication, commitment, and production he showed throughout the season. I could not be more proud of him, and we can't wait to see what he does moving forward."
Whitlock Jr. becomes the fourth Tiger in the past six seasons to be named All-American. Before that, the Tigers had only five All-Americans in the previous 58 years.
