Playing integral roles in the Cowley College men's soccer team, finishing as the national runner-up, Tiger sophomores Kohsuke Fukudome and Takuto Kawase recently signed letters of intent to continue their playing careers at NCAA Division I schools.
Fukudome, named the Jayhawk Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All-American selection, signed with the University of South Florida.
"Kohsuke is a warrior and fought his way to the top." Cowley head coach Ruy Vaz said. "He deserves all the accolades and awards and will do great in Florida. USF is getting a leader, and it's the right fit for both Kohsuke and the school."
Kawase played his best soccer down the stretch and finished the 2024 season with two goals and three assists. He signed with St. John's University in New York.
"When it mattered, he showed his tremendous talent," Vaz said. "He is deserving of the success and he will make an immediate impact at St John's. As always, I am sad to see them leave but happy to know they are moving on to bigger things."
