Zgraggen signs to play tennis at NCAA Division I University of North Dakota

Leandro Zgraggen, a sophomore from Switzerland, has made tremendous improvement during his one-plus seasons as a member of the Cowley College men's tennis team. The talented sophomore has parlayed his hard work into his recent signing with the University of North Dakota.

As a freshman, Zgraggen helped the Tigers capture the Region title and finish as the national runner-up at the NJCAA Division I National Championships in Tyler, TX. This season, he has helped Cowley to a No. 1 national ranking while currently being ranked 36th in singles and eighth in doubles.

"It has been an awesome experience and pleasure coaching Leandro; he came in as a 16-year-old kid two years ago, and we have seen him not only grow as a tennis player but also as a man," Cowley head coach Manuel Raga said.

Zgraggen said it was always his goal to one day play tennis at the NCAA Division I level.

"At Cowley, I have improved a lot as a tennis player and was also able to focus on my education," Zgraggen said. "This is an amazing opportunity I have to play at North Dakota. The coach there and the tennis team seem like a good fit for me."

Raga is proud to see Zgraggen earn this opportunity.

"I know he is going to take the experiences and lessons he gained here at Cowley and will do great at the NCAA Division I level," Raga said.
