No. 1 singles player Bruno Nhavene and No. 4 singles player Pedro de la Riva each rallied from a set down to win before the Tigers' No. 2 doubles tandem of Valentin Greco and de la Riva battled back from a first set tiebreaker defeat to win 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-2 over Collin College's Guy Dagan and Seth Seeley.
"We knew it was going to be tough, and the guys fought hard to win," Cowley head coach Ariana Raga said.
With matches still being played on Wednesday, Cowley has guaranteed itself at least being in a tie for first place with two days left to play.
The national championship resumes Thursday morning at 8 with semifinal action.
"Tomorrow, we need to keep the same mentality, stay tough and fight until we get the win," Raga said.
