Sprint medley relay team breaks school record
April 24, 2012
Taking a small contingent of athletes to the KU Relays and one athlete to the Central Missouri Mule Relays over the weekend, the Cowley College track and field teams were led by the men's sprint medley relay team breaking the school record.
Not only did the sprint medley relay team of Darryl Brown, Fred Taylor, A.J. Singh and Charles Ross break the school record with a time of 3:25.33, it marked the second year in a row that Cowley has won the event at the KU Relays.
"It was really exciting for the guys to win the sprint medley relay for the second year in a row and the PA announcer said it was only the second time in the history of the meet that a team had won that relay two years in a row," Cowley head coach Mark Phillips said.
Members of the sprint medley relay were awarded wristwatches as Cowley took home another KU Relays cup.
The Lady Tigers' 4x880-yard relay team of Jessalyn Lanoy, Kelly Roberts, Maricarmen Visoso and Konnie Zuniga also ran well and achieved the national qualifying time by placing seventh with a time of 9:58.03.
Jack Taylor was the lone representative at the Central Missouri Mule Relays in Warrensburg, MO where he placed sixth with a NJCAA national qualifying time of 32:12.09.
Up next for the Tiger track and field teams will be the Southwestern Relays Saturday in Winfield.
