Tiger track and field teams open season at Washburn All-Kansas Invite
Going up against other schools in the state of Kansas, the Cowley College men and women’s track and field teams opened the indoor season by taking a small group of athletes to compete at the Washburn University All-Kansas Invite Saturday in Topeka, KS.

"We looked a little rusty, but it was good to see where we are with some athletes," Cowley coach Cameron Rieth said. "
The Tiger men and women each had one national qualifying performance. On the men's side, Adrian Diaz-Lopez placed third in the 3,000-meter run with a national qualifying time of 8:30.02. While, Zinara Lesley placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a national qualifying time of 2:24.27.
Pittsburg State placed first out of 11 team's on the men's side, while Fort Hays State placed first on the women's side.
The Tiger indoor track and field teams also hosted a hybrid, indoor/outdoor meet on Sunday where a few more athletes got an opportunity to compete.
Cowley will now prepare to compete at the Pittsburg State University Invite Saturday at 9 a.m.
"We need the competition," Rieth said.
