Trio of softball camps approaching at Cowley College
Cowley College is preparing to host summer softball camps for grade school, middle school, and high school-age participants. The camp for those in grades 1-5 will be held August 9, a camp for those in grades 6-8 will be held August 10, and the camp for those in grades 9-12 will take place August 11.
All three camps will take place at Ed Hargrove Field in Arkansas City and will run from 8 a.m. to noon with a cost of $40 per camper.
Lady Tiger head coach Jenny Hoyt and assistant coach Tori Beltz will lead the camp. Returning players from the Cowley Tiger softball team will also be on hand to provide individual instruction.
The camps will focus on teaching fundamentals to help players become better offensively. Included in this session will be hitting and bunting. A base-running portion will be designed to show players correct base-running techniques.
The camps will also focus on teaching fundamentals to help players become better defensively. There will be drills to improve infielders and outfielders, proper throwing mechanics, and fielding ground balls and fly balls correctly.
