Cowley (22-8) is in a four-way tie for first place in the conference with a record of 4-0, while Labette, losers of six games in a row, is now 5-17 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
In Saturday's opener, Lady Tiger sophomore Mikah Vann tossed Cowley's fifth shutout of the season. Vann (12-3) allowed only four hits while striking out six and walking two.
Batting out of the final two spots in the order, Lady Tiger sophomores Paige Scanlin and Kanon Goji had two hits apiece.
Labette's starting pitcher, Taylor Palmer, allowed six hits and two earned runs while also going the distance on the mound.
In game two, sophomore Ezra Arredondo (8-2) allowed only one hit in the complete game victory. Both runs against Arredondo were unearned, as the Lady Tigers won despite committing five errors.
Arredondo and Jamie Molina had two hits apiece, and Cardinal starting pitcher Caitlyn Suhrie allowed eight hits and four runs in seven innings.
Cowley will face a tough challenge on Monday when they host a doubleheader against Butler at 2 p.m. The Grizzlies (21-5) are ranked 18th in the latest NJCAA softball poll.
