Coffeyville races past Cowley women’s basketball team 94-67

The Cowley College women's basketball team got off to a promising start in its conference-opening game at Coffeyville Community College on Wednesday as they led 22-21 after one-quarter of play. Unfortunately, Coffeyville would score 30 points in both the second and third quarters as they took command in the 94-67 victory.

Both teams are now 5-2 on the season.

Cowley trailed by only six points (43-37) before the Red Ravens closed the half on an 8-0 run to lead 51-37.

With Coffeyville leading 54-41 early in the third quarter, the Red Ravens would use a 20-2 run to lead 74-43 and cruised to the 27-point win.

Coffeyville went 14-30 from three-point range and was led by Kyleigh Ortiz, going 7-of-12 from long range and finishing with a game-high 25 points.

Sophomore Carson Dean went 6-of-10 from three-point range and led the Lady Tigers with 18 points. Freshman Anna Przyszlak added 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Gracie Gilpin chipped in with 13 points.

Cowley will look to bounce back when they host Dodge City Saturday at 1 p.m. The Lady Conquistadors are 5-1 on the season.
