Tiger wrestling team takes down Friends University

Taking part in its second dual of the season, the No. 23-ranked Cowley College wrestling team defeated Friends University 34-19 Monday, November 21, in Wichita.

The Tigers got wins from Brock Furguson (125 pounds), Aidan O'Dell (133 pounds), Sebastian Rodriguez (149 pounds), Melton Powe (174 pounds), 197 pounds (Lewis Caples), and heavyweight Dean Setticase as they improved their record to 1-1 in duals.

Each of Cowley's victories came via pins outside of Lewis Caples' win by major decision.

"We wrestled well and are finding bonus points in matches," Cowley interim head coach Justice Circle said.

Cowley will look to continue its momentum when they compete at the Newman University Jet Open Sunday, December 4, at 9 a.m. The Jet Open will be the Tigers' final competition of the first semester.

"We are looking forward to the thick of the season here after Christmas break," Circle said.
