
Cowley lands three wrestlers on the all-conference list
Placing third in the Jayhawk Conference, the Cowley College wrestling team had three wrestlers named to the 2024-25 KJCCC Wrestling All-Conference teams.
Placing third in the Jayhawk Conference, the Cowley College wrestling team had three wrestlers named to the 2024-25 KJCCC Wrestling All-Conference teams.
A total of 30 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference wrestlers from seven different programs earned the distinction of All-Conference. Wrestlers who represented their respective institution at the 2025 NJCAA South Central District Wrestling Tournament on February 15th in Pratt, Kansas, were nominated for the All-Conference teams, with all eight head coaches in the league submitting their ballots at each of the 10 weight classes to make up the all-conference teams.
All three wrestlers from the KJCCC to earn postseason awards are part of the All-Conference teams with Fort Hays Tech Northwest 174-pound wrestler and KJCCC Wrestler of the Year Otgonbayar Batsuuri named a first-team All-KJCCC selection while both Fort Hays Tech Northwest 285-pound wrestler and NJCAA South Central District Wrestler of the Meet Jeisser Sampson-Sanchez and Labette 141 pound wrestler and KJCCC wrestling Freshman of the Year Jordan Cullors both earning second-team All-KJCCC accolades.
Leading the conference with five first-team All-KJCCC selections was the NJCAA South Central District Tournament Champion Fort Hays Tech Northwest, as they tied for the most all-conference selections with eight total wrestlers to earn the distinction of All-Conference. KJCCC regular season dual champion Pratt also had eight total wrestlers earn All-KJCCC wrestling honors, with Labette (six), Cowley (3), Barton (2), Colby (2), and Neosho County (1) also having wrestlers earn All-KJCCC distinction.
Cowley College wrestlers Evan Rodriguez (141 pounds) and Shawn Bamba (149 pounds) were named First Team all-conference selections, while Jacen Jackson (157 pounds) was named a Third Team all-conference performer.
"Shawn, Jacen, and Evan have been great for the program," Cowley head coach Justice Circle said. "They are hard workers and put their heads down and work. This is the toughest conference in the country. We are excited to see these guys compete along with the rest of the team next weekend at the national tournament, where Evan received the number 1 seed at nationals, and Shawn received the number 7 seed."
