Pratt stuns No. 2-ranked Tiger tennis team

After playing a brutal schedule of nationally ranked NCAA Division II and NJCAA Division I schools, the No. 2-ranked Cowley College men's tennis team hoped things would be a bit easier when facing conference foe Pratt on Thursday. However, the hometown Beavers came out ready to play and defeated the Tigers 5-4.

The match began with doubles, where the Beavers took two out of three matches. The Tigers' lone doubles victory came from its No. 3 tandem of Pedro De La Riva and David De Hoyo Rodriguez,

In singles, the teams split the six matches 3-3. The Beavers earned wins at the top three singles spots, while the Tigers got wins from Dan Hosono, David De Hoyo Rodriguez, and Juwan Bae.

Cowley will attempt to bounce back when they play three home matches over the next week, beginning with Saturday's match against No. 11-ranked Weatherford College at 11 a.m. at the Ark City High School tennis courts.

*No. 2 – Isaac Rondon/Valentin Greco (CC) lost to Kawada/Rabinad Vila 4-8.

*No. 3 – Pedro De La Riva/David De Hoyo Rodriguez (CC) defeated Thio Tshivhase/Sixto Golobart (PC) 8-2.

SINGLES 

*No. 1 – Garla (CC) lost to Khamrotau (PC) 4-6, 1-6.

*No. 2 – De Hoyo Rodriguez (CC) lost to Bilnov (PC) 5-7, 5-7.

*No. 3 – Greco (CC) lost to Rabinad (PC) 4-6, 3-6.

*No. 4 – Hosono (CC) defeated Kawada (PC) 6-3, 6-4.

*No. 5 – De Hoyo Rodriguez (CC) defeated Tshivhase (PC) 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

*No. 6 – Juwan Bae (CC) defeated Sixto Golobart (PC) 6-2, 6-4.
