
Cowley makes it another sweep of conference awards
Racking up another five wins to run their win streak to 58 consecutive matches, Cowley College volleyball players Laura Bonomi, Hanna Darvas, and Jessi Ritchhart have all repeated as Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Volleyball Players of the Week.
Racking up another five wins to run their win streak to 58 consecutive matches, Cowley College volleyball players Laura Bonomi, Hanna Darvas, and Jessi Ritchhart have all repeated as Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Volleyball Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week (Laura Bonomi – Cowley) – Bonomi recorded three double-doubles to give her nine on the season and 30 in her career. The double-doubles came against Central Neb, number 18 NEO, and NJCAA DIII No. 1 and 2023 undefeated national champion Dallas Eastfield. She crossed the 700 career kill mark at Cowley with 735 total career kills. Named Cowley Invitational Tournament All-Tournament team by the tournament coaches. Currently ranks ninth in the NJCAA in kills per set and number one in the KJCCC in kills per set. Bonomi is also second in the KJCCC in aces per set and top five in the KJCCC in hitting percentage. For the week, she averaged 4.47 kills per set, 3.73 digs per set, 0.67 aces per set while passing a 2.4 passer rating. with a .456 hitting percentage.
Setter of the Week (Hanna Darvas - Cowley) - Darvas was named to the Cowley Invitational Tournament All-Tournament Team by the tournament coaches. Leads the NJCAA and KJCCC in assists per set at 12.27 while averaging 12.93 assists per set last week. Darvas has helped lead a Cowley offense that leads the nation in kills per set, assists per set, hitting percentage, and points per set, as the Tigers have won 58 straight matches going back to last season.
Defensive Player of the Week (Jessi Ritchhart – Cowley) – Ritchhart currently ranks 20th in the NJCAA in digs per set, second in the KJCCC in digs per set (5.80), and averaged 6.27 digs per set last week to help Cowley go 5-0 on the week. Passed at a 2.57 passer rating on the week and was named to the Cowley Invitational Tournament All-Tournament team by the tournament coaches. She totaled 94 digs and had only three receiving errors in 38 total receptions.
