Volleyball continues to dominate the Jayhawk Conference with sweep of Labette

Cowley volleyball runs record to 10-0

The No. 4-ranked Cowley College volleyball team continues to dominate its opponents and has yet to drop a set following a 25-9, 25-10, 25-13 victory at Rose State College Monday in Midwest City, OK.

The Lady Tigers are now 10-0 overall, while Rose State College falls to 0-4.

"This match against Rose State will get us ready to play Allen on Wednesday," Cowley head coach Steven Gream said.

Super sophomore Iva Halacheva led Cowley with 16 kills, while Laci Beougher (10 kills, six digs) and Rachele Tessari (nine kills, 10 digs) also played well. Middle blocker Gyongyver Araczki also stepped up with seven kills.

"Gyongyver provided us with a solid attack in the middle and allowed us to have holes in their defense," Gream said.

Cowley will return home to face Allen Community College Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Red Devils are 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.

"Allen is a scrappy team that is hard to defend," Gream said. "They took us to five games the last time we played them, so we know they will come after us with everything they have."
